Repetition 1
Ceramics and mixed media

2015
For my Ceramics I, the focus on the first project was to choose either an organic shape or a geometric shape. We had to reproduce over fifty of the objects and create a sculptural work of art. I made over one hundred, painted the back and tips with watercolor paint. The backing is a piece of plywood covered with plaster strips.
The Weight On My Shoulders
I am focusing on an object that usually evokes feelings of warm, comfort, and a sense of serenity. However, by solidifying its original form, it becomes heavy, rough, and jagged. The weight of the blanket has now become a fossilized memory of something that was once dear to me. By placing it on the wall, it lifts the weight off my shoulders and becomes a reminder of the tension of those heavy burdens that will eventually dissipate over time.
